Standing On The Shoulders Of Giants

“If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.” – Sir Isaac Newton

This business has been incredibly good to me.

I have spent over half of my career using WREIA to help other people get started or go further, and others go faster than they thought it would take to become “financially free”.

The trip Brenda and I took just a few weeks ago reminded me that in any line of work, you can go further by learning from and sharing your knowledge with others. It’s some type of cosmic law – that you go further by helping other get where they want to go as well.

A few days ago we posted the second video from that trip to Greece.

Because of that trip, I told you we made a few simple changes to our next WREIA meeting – which is tomorrow night.

I reached out to our community of investors and we are going to have other local investors share some of their success and challenging stories about home renovation.

Ancient Greece grew to be a powerhouse because they became the hub, or center of modern information, technology and ideas. They grew because they invited everyone to their cities, to share and borrow ideas from each other – and take the best of what they learned to globally move everyone forward.

My hope is that we continue to do the same with WREIA. Let’s take and borrow the best ideas, technology and information from each other and use those ideas to better our local investing communities.

Years ago we very deliberately stopped promoting the out of town guest speaker of the month. Instead we started focusing on local professionals who have had success or learned lessons that they they are willing to share with the rest of us.

Tomorrow at our October meeting, things are no different. As part of our October meeting we will have a few successful investors from our local area who have agreed to share stories about their recent success or “learning experiences”.

450 years ago Sir Isaac Newton spent his days networking and reaching back into history for the best of what had been learned up to his time. Some of that knowledge and scientific thinking would reach all the way back to ancient Greece.

Tomorrow at WREIA we will all “network our knowledge forward” and simply prepare for a successful 2020 and beyond.

I hope I see you tomorrow at the October WREIA meeting!

John
